Julie is the result of a persistent design process. Curved veneer slats form a beautiful back and armrests for this light looking, sculptural wooden small chair for dining and meeting purposes.

Julie B2 is a chair with seat upholstery. A loose back pillow and Julie chair without seat upholstery are also available.

Julie has been granted the internationally recognized GOOD DESIGN™ 2015 Award – The world’s most prestigious, recognized, and oldest Design Awards program organized annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.

Julie Tolvanen

Julie Tolvanen, born in 1970 near Seattle. Following a degree in architecture from Washington University in 1992, she apprenticed to a cabinetmaker and then an antique restorer before setting up her own workshop to design and build furniture for individual clients. After over a decade as a woodworker, Julie moved to Finland to study for a masters in furniture design at Aalto University and started her own product design agency after graduation in 2012. She shares a studio with her husband, Mika Tolvanen. Studio Tolvanen is a product design agency that focuses on furniture, lighting, and housewares for home and contract use.
