As we conclude another meaningful year, Inno reaffirms its commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices. This year, we completed a comprehensive calculation of our carbon footprint for the fiscal year 2023. This critical step helps us better understand the environmental impact of our products and processes, enabling us to set clear goals for reducing emissions and adopting more sustainable practices.
The total carbon footprint of Inno Interior Oy was 876 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (t CO2e). The calculation was conducted by the external consulting firm Nordic Impact Oy, in accordance with the internationally recognized Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol). It included mandatory Scope 1 and 2 emission categories, along with the most relevant and significant sources from the voluntary Scope 3 categories. To further mitigate our environmental impact, Inno offsets the wood raw material used annually in production through afforestation projects, ensuring that our practices actively contribute to global reforestation efforts. Inno’s forests are expected to sequester an average of 3,710 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
Throughout the year, we remained focused on our commitment to sustainability, ensuring our actions align with global sustainability goals and uphold the highest standards at every step of our production process. Key initiatives we reinforced this year include:
- Combating Climate Change and Preserving Biodiversity. Inno remains dedicated to fighting climate change and actively promoting biodiversity, recognizing the critical role these efforts play in safeguarding our planet’s future.
- Adhering to ISO 14001:2015 standards, which guide our environmentally responsible production and processes.
- Exclusively using responsibly sourced and certified wood in our production.
- Offsetting more than 100% of the wood raw material used annually in production through afforestation projects. These efforts contribute to climate action, forest restoration, and biodiversity enhancement.
- In 2024, Inno supported the growth of 50 hectares of forest in Volaita, Ethiopia, building on previous achievements.
- Over the past several years, Inno has cultivated 350 hectares of forest, expected to sequester an average of 3,710 tons of carbon dioxide annually. World Vision is currently seeking Gold Standard certification for the forests initiated by Inno.
- For every wooden product sold in 2024, approximately 16 trees will be regrown through Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) methods
- Beyond afforestation, Inno continues supporting local populations in these regions, often the most affected by climate change.
- Continuing to use renewable energy across our facilities and production processes.
As we look back on 2024, we are proud of the progress we’ve made and grateful for the collaboration of our team, partners, and customers. Together, we are working toward a more sustainable future. As we head into 2025, we remain committed to driving innovation and responsible practices that contribute to a healthier planet. Thank you for being part of our journey.
