Towards a brighter future

Inno’s contribution for the children and our planet

The year 2020 has been different, difficult in many ways, but let’s not stop doing good together and for those less fortunate than ourselves.

Due to Covid-19 and the traveling restrictions, we have found ourselves in an unfortunate situation, not being able to continue our decade-old tradition of building water related charity projects in developing African countries. Instead we have now decided to take our actions and contribute against climate change and poverty, and to give our support for those suffering most from it.

After a meeting with the Australian “forest maker” agronomist Tony Rinaudo, and with the help of World Vision Finland, Inno is now participating in a Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) program. A program where education and sustainable land restoration techniques are used to combat climate change, poverty and hunger, and increase the quality of life for farmers and their children in developing countries.

With our donation, Inno will contribute in growing 50 hectares of forest in Wolaita, Ethiopia, where children are already now suffering from the effects of climate change.

The benefits are manifold, the forest increases soil fertility and restores water circulation. Agricultural productivity increases and livestock produces many times more milk due to the increased amount of food. The livelihood and food security will improve and the families can afford to keep their kids in school. Afforestation binds carbon from the atmosphere, prevents erosion and soil depletion, restores the biodiversity of nature and reduces the risk of extreme events such as floods and droughts.

  • Inno will contribute in growing 50 hectares of forest in Wolaita Ethiopia
  • Approximately 5-7 trees are planted or regrown for every Inno product sold in 2020.
  • In a few years, these forests are estimated to capture an average of 530 tons of carbon dioxide yearly from the atmosphere.

Corona aid for children: Inno has further donated an equal sum to World Vison for the immediate support and help, and to limit the spread of Covid-19 and reduce its impact on children in developing countries.

“The best Christmas present for us is to see sustainable Inno products in your projects. Thank you for being a part of our extended family and working long-term together with us.”

Merry Christmas, Niklas Korhonen
