Tilt L YXLA

Tilt L YXLA is a meeting chair with 5-star cross leg, castors and height adjustment mechanism. Designed by Juha Rista, the elegant lines of the chair were inspired by the streamlined car designs of the ’50s. With a sleek and compact high back design, it’s great for conference spaces, but also an excellent choice for multi-functional work environments.

Tilt is a highly customisable product family of eight chairs. All members of the Tilt family supplement each other and may be used in the same premises but in different spaces. The standard coating and upholstery options are vast, but completely customised solutions are also possible on request. This enables the Tilt family to fit in the most diverse settings – board rooms, conference spaces and visitor areas.

Tilt family was launched at Salone del Mobile Milan 2019.

Juha Rista

Juha Rista is an interior architect in one of the leading interior architectural offices in Finland. This gives him a unique opportunity to study and create experiences in the project field. As a designer, Juha likes to create, solve, and innovate new and experimental things in his daily life. He has been interested in furniture and lighting design since 1998 and created numerous bespoke furniture and lighting objects for hospitality and office projects. Designers should always have their eyes open, look at everyday things and surroundings for inspiration and innovation, not just at spectacular pictures. As a designer, Juha Rista likes to use a technique called “misseeing”, which means looking at an image in an unconventional way. One example of this process is seen in the chair Tilt as an interpretation of a” wrong way around” chamfer on the armrest. The chair got its inspiration from the automotive industry with its free-flowing curves on the old classics’ bodyworks. Designing is communicating on many aspects: on visual, constructional, emotional, and haptic levels. A piece of furniture must be pleasing on all of these aspects. As a person, Juha always gets excited to the fullest on things that interest him. It doesn´t matter what the focus is, designing, building, music-making, reading or just learning new things in life. Juha is currently interested in the basic mechanics of a combustion engine.
